The Thomas Family- Week 1

Minding the Twins

Weekly Update Written By: Lucius Thomas

Grandma Aimee, the twin toddlers Kori and Nicholas, and I were given a pretty small house to furnish with the money that was left after buying the house. We were able to get the necessities and a television to watch. We are determined to make ends meet. Though, since the toddlers have to stay at home all day, I am the one who gets to work and bring in money.

I miss out on a lot of after school activities since I do work most every day and if I am not working, then I want to spend time with Kori and Nick since I don't get to see them much during the week. I play catch up on the weekend and I have to help Grandma Aimee with household chores. I really wish I could have a normal teenage life sometimes. However, I realize that this will make me better off for when I myself have a family.

It is hard for Grandma Aimee and I to keep in good spirits since these two are constantly trying to get into something or we are tyring to teach them walk or talk or potty training them. Since we've moved here, I have had barely enough time to do my homework. Grandma Aimee barely has time to do anything for herself, especially when I'm at school or work since she has to keep an eye on two toddlers.

One of our neighbors came over on Wednesday. Her name is Rylie Roberts. Grandma Aimee will be pleased that she can socialize with someone her age for a change. She can talk about what life was like for her growing up and have someone who experienced the same time as well. Plus, talking to the same three people gets boring when you do it every day.

That night was the twins birthday. Kori grew into a very pretty child and decided she wanted to be a tomboy. As she is to become head of house upon becoming teen, I feel it fitting that she be allowed to choose what she wants to wear. I am only filling in since she is too young to complete the roll by herself. She's beginning to ask where Mom and Dad are since many kids at the school have a mother and father. Grandma Aimee and I have been stalling, unsure of what to tell her.

Nick grew into a handsome child. Grandma Aimee says that she will work if I wanted to to just lounge around the house. I haven't decided what I'm going to do. Part of me would like to quit my job, but part of me wants to keep going at it. Hopefully, Kori and Nick will be able to enjoy their childhood and be able to do as they please when they become teenagers.

Kori and Nick became friends quick once they could actually play together. I hope that they stay good friends throughout their lives and nothing tears them apart. They way things are going now, they are right on track to do just that.

We sold the items needed for when Kori and Nick were toddlers and with the money we had saved from my job, we bought two beds and made some other upgrades to the house. Hopefully, we will be able to pay the bills. We don't have much money.

We had just arrived at our assigned house when it decided to start raining. It was a lovely Monday morning. I was holding my youngest, Tara. I was really hoping to have at least three of my children graduate from university before I pass away. As one of the new rules that was posted on the front door said that females were to be heirs and the spouse will take her name, I began to wonder which three of my daughters would get to continue living here and who my son would marry. I am hoping he would marry another heiress, but I'll let him fall in love with who he falls in love with.

I went inside along with my mother and my second youngest daughter and began to teach Tara to walk. I was also the one who taught her how to speak. One of my teenage twins taught potty trained her. Tara is just so cute. Part of me doesn't want to see her grow up. I want to forever have a baby in the house.

My twin teens, Brooke and Hunter, stayed outside and had a pillow fight. Those two have been close since they day they were old enough to play together. Some people have accused them of being boyfriend and girlfriend before they realize that they are twins. I think they do this because they are fraternal twins and don't have much in common looks wise. What surpised me is that Brooke is more interested in learning new things and Hunter is into sports. Brooke wants to be a Captain Hero when she grows up and Hunter wants to be a Hall of Famer.

I got a job in the military career to bring in money for the family as per my agreement with my mother before we moved into this neighborhood. I started off as a recruit and began to work my up to general. I didn't get very far this week. I only got promoted once before week's end.

Hunter brought home one of the local teens home. She said her name was Meadow Thayer. I knew Hunter liked her a fair amount from what he was saying about her over the last few days. I was curious to see how she would deal with kids. I had heard rumors from other fathers at work that she was a romancer. When I saw her playing with Tara, I knew that if she did settle down and have kids, she would be a good mother.

Tara had her birthday today. She is still as beautiful as she was as a toddler and reminded me of her mother. I was very proud that she decided to wear a dress as a child. Brooke was more of a tomboy as she wanted to play with Hunter as a kid.

I sat down with my three girls over lunch and talked about who would be heiress. We decided that the oldest girl should be heiress. Brooke was fine with staying here in the house when she grew up and continuing the family home. Leah and Tara were fine with it as they believed that Brooke would make a fine heiress.

Brooke began to start keeping an eye out for people she might marry as an adult. She was 15 and knew she would have to step up as heiress upon becoming an adult. As only females could take the house, she wanted to star having a family pretty quickly to make sure she had a female to carry on the family house. She was getting along pretty well with a man named Komei Tellerman. I also heard rumors from work that he, too, was a romancer. Well, my twins have always been close, I had a feeling they would choose similar spouses to marry. While it might not be Meadow and Komei, their spouses would be similar.

My mother and Leah were close and were enjoying the new neighborhood. Leah had started elementary school here and was making friends fast with the local kids. My mother had gotten into a few of the local clubs that catered to older folks and was making friends with all of the other grandparents and others in that age range.

After I had gotten a few promotions, we had enough money to upgrade some furniture. We got two better beds, a better toilet, and a mirror and workout machine for me. The workout machine was so I could get promoted easier and allow my family to watch television while I worked out.

Hunter accidently caught the stove on fire. He took charge of the situation and put the fire out. I knew then that Hunter would make a good father and be a great Hall of Famer. Hall of Famers need to be good leaders who aren't afraid of taking charge and dealing with a problem that might arise. Hunter puttng out the fire without my mother or I telling him to do so, showed that he will make a great leader when he grows up.

Hunter started to flirt with Meadow a few days after the fire incident in the kitchen. Meadow was open to his flirtings and they soon had fallen in love with each other. Those two make a cute couple and I hope the two will remain boyfriend and girlfriend.

Hunter soon got his first kiss off of Meadow as well, as Sunday wound down to a close. Well, that is all that happened this week. I hope next week is just as fruitful as this week was.

History of Prosperity Heights and the Six Families

Prosperity Heights is a neighborhood that recently opened up for families who want a new life. The only catch was they had $20,000 to buy land, build a house, furnish it, and still have money left for other expenses such as bills. Each family had to have the head of house write a history of his or her family before moving in and write weekly updates on their life in Prosperity Heights. The only other catch was that their family had to live in Prosperity Heights through five generations and their existing children will not count towards the five generations. While many single Sim families moved here, the head of the neighborhood noticed six families that were not single Sims or recently married couples. Here are their initial bios as written by the head of house.

The Robertses
Number of Sims: 6
Age range: elder to toddler
History told by: Rylie Roberts
History:
My son, Gainell, recently lost his wife to a battle with cancer shortly after the birth of my last granddaughter, Tara. My other grandchildren, fraternal twin teens Brooke and Hunter. My husband died few years before Tara's birth. Gainell quit his job after his wife died to stay home with the kids. I decided that I could not have my son and only money maker of the family wasting away at home and so I asked him if we moved to Prosperity Heights since he had wanted to, then would he get a job. He agreed and so we packed up and moved here.

The Thomases
Number of Sims: 4
Age range: elder to toddler
History told by: Aimee Thomas
History:
I took my three grandchildren in after their parents decided that they were unable to raise them financially. The twins Kori and Nicholas had just been born and Lucius was 8 when I took them in. My little house could handle two babies and a child. But now that the twins are toddlers and Lucius is a teen, my house was just too small. I didn't have much money, so getting $20,000 and having a house over my grandkids' heads is the reason we decided to move to Prosperity Heights.

The Kirkmans
Number of Sims: 6
Age range: elder to toddler
History told by: Kane Kirkman
History:
My only daughter, Victoria, and her husband, Daniel, took me in after my wife died five years back. It was a hard adjustment seeing as they had just had twins, Amanda and Elise. A couple of years ago, Victoria and Daniel decided they were ready for another child and had Patrick. However, the economy in our city took a pretty bad turn and it ended up with Daniel losing his job. Daniel decided that there was no point trying to find a job in that city and so we relocated here to Prosperity Heights.

The Davisons
Number of Sims: 2
Age range: elder to teen
History told by: Nick Davison
History:
My eldest child and only daughter, Emily, got pregnant with her husband soon after marriage before either were ready. She had been on birth control and for some reason it failed. The marriage didn't last much longer and soon Emily was an unwed mother of an infant. She moved back in with me and my now departed wife, Krissy. A few years later, when Emily's daughter, Lily, was a toddler, Emily died in a car crash caused by a drunk driver. About five years after Emily's death, Krissy passed away at 90 of old age. The house we lived in for so many years held so many bad memories. Lily and I tried to live in the house, but we recently decided to move here to Prosperity Heights to start a new life.

The Halls
Number of Sims: 2
Age range: adult to child
History told by: Ann Hall
History:
I am recently divorced as my husband decided he didn't want to help me raise Natalie. He said he had "commitment" problems and could deal with being married, but having a kid made it too permanent for him. I really don't want to find a husband, but for Natalie's sack I'm moving here to Prosperity Heights with the hope of finding mister right.

The Adamses
Number of Sims: 5
Age Range: elder to child
History told by: Owen Adams
History:
When my son's wife left him a few years ago, he was heart broken. Jon truly thought that Heather was the right woman for him. They had even had two children together. Mike, now a teenager, and Ginny, a kid, were reminders to him of a lost love. However, he decided that he should move back in with my wife, Kim, and I in order to piece his life back together. He has enjoyed having us around to talk to and to help raise his kids. We decided to move here in order to move into a much smaller community than where we had raised Jon. Jon agreed to move with us so that Mike and Ginny could remain close to their grandparents.

____________

Sorry for such a long post, but I felt that the scenario the families were in required some form of background before I posted weekly updates.

Starting Off- Family Set Up

Well, this is my first attempt at a Prosperity Challenge. I started it to avoid playing Legacy Sims in Uni. Mind you they only have three semesters left and I really want to get them out. But, hey, Uni is boring. The family also has too much money.

For randomizing, I'm using a random number generator on my calculator, so I can do 2-6 for number of families, 1-7 for aspiration (I have NL and thus Pleasure, but wanted the choose your own aspiration option), 1-12 for personality, and I used 1-6 for male or female as per the BBS post.

I rolled a 6 for number of families. For the number of Sims in each house I rolled a 6, 4, 6, 2, 2, 5. As a legacy person mainly I'm thinking $1500 for more than 1 Sim, this is going to be hard. Then I realized that they don't have to live on the 5x5 lot and calmed down.

The first family with 6 Sims rolled 4 females and 2 males in that order. That family is the Roberts. Rylie Roberts is a female popularity Leo elder. Gainell is a male family Virgo adult. Brooke is a female knowledge gemini teen. Hunter is a male popularity sagittarius teen. Leah is a female leo child. Tara is a female pisces toddler. Rylie is Gainell's mother.

The second family with 4 Sims rolled 2 females and 2 males in that order. That family is the Thomases. Aimee Thoms is a female pleasure cancer elder. Lucius is a male family sagittarius teen. Kori is a female Taurus toddler. Nicholas is a male cancer toddler. Placeholder created. Aimee is their paternal (?) grandmother)

The third family with 6 Sims rolled 3 females and 3 males. That family is the Kirkmans. Kane Kirkman is a male knowledge pisces elder. Daniel is a male knowledge Taurus adult. Victoria is a female fortune scorpio adult. Amanda is a female taurus child. Elise is a female sagittarius child. Patrick is a male aquarius toddler. Kane is Victoria's father and Victoria is married to Daniel.

The fourth family with 2 Sims rolled a male and female. That family is the Davisons. Nick Davison is a male fortune scorpio elder. Lily is a female cancer family teen. Placeholder mother created. Nick is Lily's maternal grandfather.

The fifth family with 2 Sims rolled 2 females. That family is the Halls. Ann Hall is a female Leo family adult. Natalie is a female pisces child. Natalie is Ann's child.

The sixth family with 5 Sims rolled 2 females and 3 males. That family is the Adamses. Owen Adams is a male fortune virgo elder. Kim is a female family libra elder. Jon is a male knowledge Sagittarius adult. Mike is a male family virgo teen. Ginny is a female aquarius child. Owen and Kim are married and are Jon's parents.

The next blog will be the back story of Prosperity Heights and of each family. Following that, will be week 1 progress of each family.
